Arles and the surrounding area

The town of Arles in the Bouches du Rhône department has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for two reasons: for the cultural asset "Arles, Roman and Romanesque monuments" and for the serial cultural asset "Pilgrim's Way to Santiago de Compostela in France".
Ideally situated on the banks of the Rhône, it offers superb views over the Camargue and the Alpilles, the sea and the land!

The capital of the Camargue, situated at the gateway to the Alpilles, Arles is a historic and dynamic town, full of colour and tradition. Its narrow streets are lined with beautiful two-storey town houses and private mansions. At the heart of the town, its superb restored arenas come alive with traditional festivals.

The Camargue Regional Nature Park is located on the Mediterranean coast, inside the Rhône delta, mainly between the two arms of the river. It covers 3 communes: part of the communes of Arles and Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône and the entire commune of Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer.
